If I can travel in the dimension of space, along ancient pilgrimage trails, up heavenly mountains, across scorched deserts, on sandy beaches, then surely I can also travel in the dimension of time…?
Such was my reasoning when I signed up on a Past Life Regression course for hypnotherapists recently. And what a trip that turned out to be.
Right now, I feel like a man on fire, a supernova, with so much energy running freely through me, and beaming in all directions, that I am not quite sure what to do with myself, other than possibly set the sky alight!
Since learning the techniques of the time travel under hypnosis, I have been facilitating Past Life Regressions with practice clients, and accompanying them on journeys to the place in their subconscious mind where other lifetimes are stored. Perhaps it is all metaphor, and perhaps it is anything but – in any case, the travels and learning are extraordinary.
How could anything ever be the same after experiencing yourself in a different lifetime, in a different body? Looking into the eyes of people in those times, and recognising their very souls, knowing that they walk this path across time with you? Knowing that you are, in fact, infinite and never alone? Remembering what it was you came here for, what you have yet to do? Feeling how every cell of your body is infused with the light you brought with you when you came?

I am getting high on it all, as I voyage to the depths of the subconscious mind with my clients.
Some visit past lives where all was ease and bliss, and their task in this life is to remember that it does not all have to be hardship. Some visit lives that were deeply emotional and challenging, and bring back the learning that they had the inner strength to prevail. Yet others visit the place between lives, where they are in their pure form as a soul, and discover what it is like to be Home again.
I have personally gone on this journey too, which helps me guide others through its territory. After Ozge passed on, I was immensely helped by the knowledge within me that it was not the “end” of her. She was a bright beam that returned to the divine sun that everyone who met her could see shining in her face. Under hypnosis, I went to my life between lives, and met her there again to ask all that I did not have time to, as the machines and clock ticked away her existence in this lifetime. The big “Why” in me found its answer, and opened up a magnificent “Who” that I am now free to define and redefine as I wish.
And with that, energy abounds. I have never felt more alive than now, knowing the expanse of what “life” also means.

From Buddhist wisdom, this quote holds the essence of what the Past Life Regression and Life Between Lives work does:
“We think that we have a beginning and an end, a birth and a death, and we might think that before our birth we were not there and after our death we will not be there, and we get caught up in the concept of being and non-being.
Together let us look deeply at a wave in the ocean. It lives its life of a wave, but it lives the life of water at the same time. If the wave were able to turn toward itself and touch its substance, which is water, then it would be able to attain nonfear and nirvana.”
~Thich Nhat Hanh from True Love, A Practice for Awakening the Heart.
And straight from the music charts in 2013, because we are in all times at once, here is my invitation to those to whom this work speaks:

“If you’re homesick, give me your hand and I’ll hold it”
~ in People Help the People, sung by Birdy
I will hold it and walk with you on the journey home. Isn’t that what we are all just doing anyway?
